Eibach
Eibach makes the finest performance springs in the world. Period. When other springs sag, wear out, or create sketchy handling or a bone-crushing ride, top street tuners—like top race teams, from F1 to WRC, from Le Mans to NASCAR—inevitably turn to Eibach. And, also inevitably, wonder why they didn´t choose Eibach in the first place.

Eibach Springs

I'm exhausted

What a weekend. Our first competition outing ended early as the lack of a working LSD yielded a bit too much understeer for Taka's taste. It was great to see what the car could do with the additional angle provided by our recent mods. The car initiated much better and could hold significantly more angle. My next focus is going to be on getting the rearend working and dialing in the front swaybar with some help from Eibach.

Oops, All Angles!

Big development today, this week in preparation for Just Drift Top Drift Battle! I ordered a set of stock geometry SN95 control arms to replace the forward offset Fox control arms.

angles
MM SN95 stock geometry control arms move the balljoint back 3/4" and out 3/4" from where they were with the MM Fox forward offset arms.

angles
Sub-frame clearance added to give the 245/45R17 tires a little bit more breathing room.

angles
Mad Angles!

angles
The new arms required me to change to SN95 inner tie rods and Ford Taurus outers. Some additional steering rack modifications and a bit more sub-frame clearance should be good for even more angle.

Summary:

  • MM Stock geometry SN95 control arms
  • Stock sub-frame
  • Racecraft Drop Spindles
  • Eiback Coilovers on Bilstein shocks
  • SN95 Inner Tie Rods
  • Ford Taurus Outer Tie Rods or 96+ SN95 Outer Tie Rods

What the Future Holds:
More frame clearance, some rack modifications, and a custom control arm should give us quite a bit more angle to work with.

flush?

Remember you will need to align the car after installing these and that they add a significant amount of negative camber.

This week we have the car out on the Walt James Oval at Just Drift! The new 500lbs/in Eibach springs on the front of the car coupled with all the other changes made since our last time at the oval, made a dramatic improvement. Next time we come to Just Drift, we hope to be have the car in strong enough shape to compete in Top Drift Battle!

Eibach Car Show and Tour

Yesterday was quite a journey. First thing in the morning David and I met up and drove through the Angeles Mountains to Willow Springs for Just Drift Top Drift Battle! We did not compete, but got in a few sets of tires. Around 3 o'clock we booked back to Los Angeles then headed out to the Eibach manufacturing facility for a carshow and tour. I took a lot of exciting video and will be putting an episode of two together this week. The factory tour at Eibach made me feel like a little kid in a candy store. Great stuff, I am glad we are using Eibach products on the car.

RaceCraft sent us some spindles and Eibach sent us some springs. The spindles are SN95 style 2 inch drop units. The Eibach springs are 600lbs/in front and 250lbs/in rear. Thanks to Eibach and Racecraft for supporting our drift program.
