The Locker

I went to the website of the company you got the locker from and found their product list for the Fords and was surprised to find there was no Mustang listed. Did you get one special made or did you use one from a different Ford? Their design looks like it is a superior to most of those electronic locking differentials and I would like to get one but I need to know which one.

Ed,

First, welcome aboard.

Second, exactly what Franken said. The generic 8.8 Ford model will work for all the newer 5.0 cars. Mustangs has the same rear as a number of different Ford Trucks. I will look at the documentation that came with the unit this weekend and get a part number for you.

Excellent, thank you very much. That would be very helpful. I totaled my '89 about 4 months ago and will be getting another soon and other than the suspension, the diff will be one of the first things i do. I'm so sick of seeing 240's! It's time for a change.

I don't know. I installed the unit myself. I would guess that it will cost you about $1500 when it is all said and done. You can call ARB to get numbers for local dealers and installers. Their website may also have links to dealers.

When i get my 3.73s installed. I also plan on getting my Trac Lock Rebuilt. This will give the same effect as the Air Locker Wont it?

Nope, its more like a spool or welded diff even you can turn off an on. A lot of ppl thought that when they rebuild the 8.8 LSD, will add extra clutch packs, or go with the f150 S spring or do both to give it more bite.

ya the trak-loc relies on friction to lock both left and right rear wheels together. with the air locker u command it locked and it is. soo u wont get those times when u try to do a clockwise donut and u end up juss peg legging in a big circle. and if u think about it it's safer in rainy conditions cuz u turn the locker off and u have a conventional rearend setup soo u dont have to worry about accidently loosing it around a slippery turn.
