I just picked up a 87 gt and im lookin to get it onto the track to drift i have been around drifting 240 and what not but there is just to many and around me there is no 5.0 and i was wondering what would be the best parts to get me started?
I wrote up a post on how I would go about starting a drift project, here is a link:

now for a sway bar any suggestions?
I am using one off a 4-cylinder car in the junkyard. If you want, you could use softer springs, and keep a bigger bar.
ok..and my car has lower springs the front of the car is really stiff but the back not as much. now to increase the steering angle do i need to get coilovers?
Apparently if you still have 4-lug, the pony rims have a lot of clearance. You could try a set of those wheels with the steering stops removed from the rack.
Late Model Restoration has sets of 17in Pony rims. A little wider than stock (9in as opposed to 7.5-8) and allow you to run much bigger brakes up front. I think its a sick idea, get the low pro tires, lighter wheels, bigger brakes and possibly more angle all while maintaining a stock look.
The wider wheel will reduce the amount of angle that the pony rims provide.
Yup- what Geoff said.
Wider in front is not nec good. I only run an 8" wide front rim. Wider wheel = less space for tire/wheel clearance in front end.
Night50- work on stiffening up the rear. Get a panhard bar, and try to elminate all suspension slop (like rubber bushings). Remove the rack limiters like Geoff said, and I'd even say run some cheap slip on spacers to move the front wheels outward. Also, weld up your diff. Dont worry, IF by some miracle you break it, you can find em in the junkyards alllllll day.
yea i have spacers on the back of my car should i move them to the front if so what should be the max. size to put on the front without upgrading the bolts. and my POS still works so would it matter if i welded the diff or not?
I would not go much bigger then 5mm for a slip on spacer without upgrading the studs. Basically, if the hub center of the wheel is no longer registering on the hub, then you need to upgrade your studs. If you are running the Pony wheels, 5mm should be more then enough to get your out on the track.
alrite good because i was scared of the studs not being long enought
