Tire Rack- Revolutionizing Tire Buying

Stuck in the Conservative Mid-West Side.

So its time for me to whine for a moment.
A recent altercation with Johnny Po-po has me wondering, "Is quietly drifting around an abandoned parking lot grounds for a reckless driving citation?" Common sense and knowledge of the laws that be say yes, however, where else am I to perform such acts of recklessness? The good ole' mid-west (Kansas City, Kansas to be exact) is your typical domestic car hot bed. Why just a simple dash down I-35 or I-435 and you can see all sorts of trick Camaros and old school mustangs, but upon further inspection, you realize that they all have one of two things in common. #1 The old fart (65+ yrs old) driving it has so much money invested in chrome parts and restoration that theres no possible way he'd be interested in thrashing about drifting his car. Or #2 The middle aged investment banker does what he did in high school... Hook it up with a decent motor, skinnys up front and meaty slicks in the back, bang for your buck drag car. While there is a small contingent of drifters here in KC, we lack on of the prerequisites for drifting. A safe sanctioned place to do so. The closest road course is 1.5 hrs away in the states capitol, however go there and ask them when the next drift day is and you're met with a glazed over stare as if you've just spit out a Baby Jesus from your mouth. There's talk of adding a road course next to the NASCAR track up north but thats years of debate, years of developement, months of bitching, and years of construction, hell by the time its done it seems as if I'll be Thing #1. What can I do to motivate the community, not just the drifters and straight-liners, but the general population to get behind us and support the creation of a play-area of sorts for us do-gooder bad boys. I believe it can help us keep street racing to a minimum and if not at least provide a safe, sanctioned place for those of us who wish to play by the rules, but are geographically unable, to do so.

I know what a pain it can be driving long distances to hit up a track event, but I do know that they hold events in St. Louis.

Having driven from Kansas City to St. Louis myself, I know it's a huge drive, but that's how you meet other drifters and maybe you end up pooling your resources and setting up events closer to home. Remember, guys are driving down from Chicago to drift in St. Louis as well.

The guys who live in Northern California and Las Vegas drive 200-300 miles to come to Just Drift events out here. Often, they drive the night before and stay at a cheap motel, or with a friend.

True do you think it might be possible for me to get some land, pour some concrete, and drift. I mean I don't think that would be able to handle events I just want a place where I can go to do this safely without worrying about the Police coming to break up my fun.... The drive to StL is a doozy I'd just be worried about the gas money out there.

well you could move to ohio lol

beleive it or not from spring to fall if you cant find an event or prctice every weekend your not looking hard enough.

there are several here in ohio, a few in Mi, Pa, and indiana, so theres always some type of drifting going on, and when it starts getting cold and the tracks close we meet up and find low traffic areas with alot of nice turns and have fun.
