This is why I love Internets! What other motorsport can I get this close to the drivers? Keep on blogging guys, it's great for all of us who can't make it out to events this season.

Ken Gushi on Tyler McQuarrie:
Now this is where I was having trouble on my previous following lap. I knew I had to stay close to the clipping point without over shooting it so i transitioned early and dived into Tyler's tire smoke. I was hoping to find a clear track in front landing right upon Tyler's passenger door, but he was right there, stalled. Not getting the car to slow down fast enough, I collide into Tyler's rear quarter panel and spin.
Tyler McQuarrie on Ken Gushi:
When I led, I had a little gap in the first half of the lap. He charged into the 2nd inner clipping point so hard that he hit me. I’m not sure if he couldn’t see from the Falken smoke or he just brought in to much speed but either way I know he didn’t mean to. I was able to finish the run but Ken spun at that point, so the win went to me. On to the top 16!

Chris Forsberg on Tyler McQuarrie:
I got to lead on the first lap again which helps my spotter watch his moves and tell me what I should do. We got a nice pass through the course and he was within a carlength or two the whole time. We swapped spots at the start line and I told myself to not get lost in the smoke like I did in Jersey. I decided to just go for it, I figured if he’s still making smoke then he’s probably still going! As we were full throttle running towards the outside clipping zone, I just tried to look for anything I could use as a reference to see where I was on the track! I could see him as he got off throttle to enter the first inside clip so I jumped on throttle and pulled up within one car length of him, we flipped into the tight right turn I lost him again! I stayed on the throttle for a second longer and then there he was! Inches away! I then transferred though the last turn and stayed close to his rear bumper. As we pulled up to the Formula D official and he points at us as the winner! I congratulated Tyler and ran over to my crew. We just got our second podium finish of the year! And for the first time ever, I was leading the Formula Drift Championship points! What an awesome weekend!
Tyler McQuarrie on Chris Forsberg:
I would meet Chris Forsberg in the consolation round for 3rd. This will be the 3rd time this year that Chris and I have battled, which is fine with me because I know Chris will drive hard but clean. No BS from him. He beat me in Atlanta and I beat him in Jersey, if I can beat him in Vegas, I get on the podium. Both of our runs were hard and clean but he was able to stick to me a bit closer. He won the battle for 3rd and I’m now 1-2 against Chris this season. Next one will be mine.

I have been building cars since about 1996 when I bought a 1966 Chevelle Malibu and modified it. My first exposure to drifting was back in 2004 when the shop (Hotrods to Hell) that I worked at was commissioned to build the 1969 Camaro that was campaigned in the 2005 Formula D series. In order to get a better idea of what the Camaro needed to be capable of I went to the Formula D Irwindale event and was instantly hooked.

My approach to car building is methodical. As you watch along with our build you will notice that we only make a few changed between each episode. I do not believe in throwing a bunch of parts at a problem and hoping it will be solved.
When you are developing a chassis for the first time you need to take you time and establish what I call a "vocabulary for the car." Basically what this means is that you need to learn what impact different parts and modifications will have on the car and on each other.
My roadmap for the Mustang was first to address the inconsistency in the car. The coilovers, panhard bar, and rollcage have done wonders in that direction. Then since this is a drift car, we need to make some drift specific modification, steering angle and LSD. The next move is to fine tune the car, getting the right spring rate, finding alignment settings that work well, trying different sway bars.
If you have any questions for me or suggestions for the car, you can make a post in the forum.
